Perseid party-Mosquito Hill
Saturday, August 11 2018, 8:00pm

Perseid party at Mosquito Hill Nature Center, New London. Starting around 8pm.

Mosquito Hill website: http://www.outagamie.org/government/n-through-z/parks/mosquito-hill-nature-center

Join NEWSTAR (Northeastern Wisconsin Stargazers) on Saturday, Aug. 11 for a celestial evening (8pm - midnight) under the beautiful skies at Mosquito Hill Nature Center. MARS is very bright at opposition, placing Mars closest to Earth and directly opposite the Sun (Sun-Earth-Mars); while the 'shooting stars' (comet fragments of periodic Comet 109P Swift-Tuttle) of the annual Perseid Meteor shower are flashing all around us. Venus (Earth's twin), Jupiter (gas giant), Saturn ('lord of the rings'), galaxies and periodic Comet 21P Giacobini-Zinner are also visible through telescopes proved by NEWSTAR members. There will be an introduction to the evenings program given by Tom Jorgenson.
